This Columned church with a tall clock spire was inspired by St. Martin-in-the-Fields. It is a Church of England parish church at the northeast corner of Trafalgar Square in the City of Westminster, London. It is dedicated to Saint Martin of Tours. There has been a church on the site since at least the medieval period. It was at that time located in the farmlands and fields beyond the London wall when it was awarded to Westminster Abbey for oversight.
The Heritage Collection includes several lighted Village series each with its own distinctive style. Each piece is handcrafted of porcelain individually hand painted, and characterized by a matte finish. Extensive research contributes to the charm and detail of each piece. Cast into the mold is the Department 56 logo- a guarantee of authenticity. Every year pieces are retired from production and the molds are broken. This limits the number of pieces and allows for new additions. Special pieces often are created for the various Villages. These include limited editions each adding to the unique character of the Village and capturing the imagination.
