The Cherry blossoms are a symbolic flower of the spring, a time of renewal, and the fleeting nature of life. Hanami literally means “watching blossoms”. What I found interesting was the reason why cherry blossoms were chosen. The trees have to freeze in winter and only when they overcome the frost can they blossom in spring.
