The Charlie B Gallery of Carson City, Nevada is offering this rare ceramic form that would complement a Picasso Era decor. Salvatore Aucello studied collection at the National Academy of Design and was a project planner for the Public Works of Art Project. Aucello is best known for his public murals in New York City, including one at the Chrysler Building. He produced lithography, ceramics, paintings and sculpture. There is a photograph of Aucello producing these ceramics in the 1950's on the Archives of American Art through the Smithsonian. This is an amazing opportunity.
The subject is signed S. Aucello, 1954, as shown. There is no post-studio damage, such as chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. There are skips and lines of lightness in the application of the black pigment, as shown--this strictly as artist rendered, as well volcanic activity near the section of the form. Light marks/contacts noted over the surfaces from modest use. All fragile merchandise is shipped using the "double box" process.
