Since 1884, it has been prominently displayed at the Louvre and is one of the most celebrated sculptures in the world. In Greek mythology, Nike was the goddess of victory. Her parents were the Titan Pallas and the Oceanic Styx. But she helped Zeus won the battle between the Olympians and the Titans. For this reason, she became the symbol of victory in many areas of ancient Greece, including military, athletics, and other contests.
