13"x73" collection Golden silk satin eco-printed scarf

This silk satin scarf is eco-printed with various collection ferns, Japanese maple leaves and other foliage. The bronze/gold background was created with a tannin blanket, leaving a contrasting creamy border and the prints are a deep, rich red. This is one of my favorite pieces, I almost didn't want to part with it!

The tannin in the foliage does a magical dance with the botanical dyes and they gift a part of themselves to the fabric. Each piece takes me at least 2 days to create, plus about a week to cure before they go to my seamstress, who meticulously sews them up. Eco-printing is the epitome of slow fashion, requiring time, patience and dedication to bring into being.
